Canadian watercolour and chalk-pastel artist

I am a self-taught painter of watercolours and chalk-pastels living in southern Ontario, Canada.  I have come to the point in life where I paint what "calls out to me" to be painted.  There is so much beauty in everyday things, like a bowl of freshly picked berries on the grass.  They call out to me and I paint them.

Teaching folks how to draw and paint is fun for me.  Join me for classes at my home studio.

My greatest joy in life was volunteering at Brookside Youth Centre, a secure detention centre for young men. From 2007 to 2020, I made art with fabulous artists and lovely souls at Brookside.

Comments from Hilda's Students

Whether new to water colour painting or looking for a refresher on fundamental techniques, Hilda’s relaxed teaching style makes learning enjoyable. She is attentive, encouraging and knowledgeable. I enjoyed her introductory workshop and look forward to taking more programs with her.

The room was very accommodating of the class. The Apple Crisp was a lovely treat. Thank you.

Hilda was well prepared for our class and quietly moved about the class so that we could ask questions while we were working.

Hilda's watercolour workshop was great.  Never having painted anything in any medium, I liked the step-by-step demonstration and application way of teaching.  I feel I gained the practical knowledge and inspiration to continue learning.  I highly recommend this workshop -- thank you Hilda.
