Frances - Mostly Drawn

I always sketch the face first in a portrait. If you don't get it right, there's no sense in going on. I could have a wonderful background sketched and then lose it on the face. I could still lose the face when painting, but at least I started with a likeness.

I love the sheer delight right down to the wiggling of her toes while she was reading our latest Mad Gabs story.

And, to put this post in context.... it's a nice sunny day and I should be outside.
