I'm having so much fun working on hand-made art cards for my upcoming show in July/August at the Northumberland Arts Gallery and Shop in Port Hope.
When I teach watercolour painting, I always carry around with me a piece of Arches watercolour paper to demonstrate techniques on for my artists. One day I looked at those demonstration papers and noticed that they look a lot like abstract paintings. I thought they might make good backgrounds for a collaboration with my grandkids. This time, my grand-daughter, Charlotte rose to the occasion and happily created some characters for me. She will be six years old soon. I will be putting them on the front, back and maybe inside this series of original art cards.
The most fun for me is poring through Goodreads for quotes that will bring the whole picture together. The words inside the little booklet on the art card below are:
Words are pale shadows of forgotten names. As names have power, words have power. Words can light fires in the minds of men. Words can wring tears from the hardest hearts.
Patrick Rothfuss
There just happened to be names of some watercolour paints on the paper, like raw Sienna, and I thought I should stay on the word theme with the quote.
